Elizabeth Couch

Advocate

Elizabeth Couch is an Advocate and Partner at Browns.

She was born and raised in Guernsey where she attended the Ladies’ College, and left the island in 1999 to take up a place at Bristol University to read Law.  Elizabeth graduated in 2002 with a LLB (Hons) Law degree before moving to London to complete her Bar Vocational Course.

Elizabeth was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003 and practiced as a Barrister at 4 Paper Buildings in London, the leading chambers of specialist family law barristers in the UK.  Having developed a busy practice with an emphasis in private law children cases and matrimonial financial claims, she was recommended as "an exceptional advocate in court on both Children Act and financial matters" by Chambers and Partners 2011 and 2012.  The Legal 500 2011 described her as “exceptionally knowledgeable” and recommended her as a Leading Family Junior.

Elizabeth returned to Guernsey in 2012 with her family and newly-acquired Airedale Terrier and qualified as an Advocate in 2016. She is a keen sportswoman who enjoys sailing and swimming whenever possible; back on dry land she’s not averse to running (out of steam) on the south coast cliffs.

Elizabeth is a trained collaborative lawyer and a member of both the Family Law Bar Association and Resolution.
